SSFL Contamination at Runkle Canyon and Brandeis-Bardin Institute? NBC4 Investigation and March 16 Work Group Meeting

NBC4 aired the 6th segment in its ongoing investigation of SSFL, “Living in the Shadow of a Toxic Mess,” on February 29, 2016. The investigation examined whether contamination from SSFL has migrated into Runkle Canyon, where a new housing development is nearing completion.

Two stories that aired in November, “Camp Cover-Up,” and a follow-up segment, also looked into contamination questions at the nearby Brandeis-Bardin Institute children’s camp.

The SSFL Work Group will take a close look at contamination issues at Runkle Ranch and the Brandeis-Bardin Institute at its upcoming meeting, Wednesday March 16 at 6:30

LA’s Nuclear Secret: A Call For Action

NBC aired the fifth segment of its year-long and ongoing investigation into SSFL, “LA’s Nuclear Secret: Call For Action,” on December 14, 2015, revealing that Boeing now estimates that as many as 96 people out of 100 would get cancer from the contamination if they lived on the site – yet it has asked state regulators to allow them to not clean up about 98% of the soil on its property. Leaving that much contamination on site poses a substantial risk to nearby communities through offsite migration.
