U.S. DOE Reneges on Santa Susana Cleanup Commitment

On January 13, 2025, CBG, in conjunction with Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, Parents Against SSFL, and Physicians for Social Responsibility–LA, put out a press release about the US Department of Energy’s recently-announced intent to abandon the legally binding 2010 agreement for a full cleanup of the SSFL.

Click here to view the January 22 followup joint letter from CBG, PEER, PASSFL, and PSRLA to DOE requesting disclosure of the documentation justifying DOE’s supposed need for a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS). The letter also requests an extension of DOE’s scoping public comment period for the SEIS.
