Ex-contractor to pay $97 million over fraud claims at S.F. Hunters Point Shipyard (SF Chronicle)
“The former Navy contractor that has been at the center of a decade-long legal battle over accusations of fraud at the San Francisco Shipyard development has agreed to pay $97 million to settle a case brought against it by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The federal case was originally filed in 2013 by whistleblowers alleging that Tetra Tech EC cut corners in the cleanup by falsifying soil samples and faking data. The Justice Department joined the case in 2018, adopting most of the whistleblowers’ claims.”
