Supervisors hear calls to sue over site of partial nuclear meltdown (Ojai Valley News)

“The action culminated in a demonstration on July 23 outside the county Government Center in Ventura, featuring protesters wearing green Parents Against SSFL T-shirts and carrying signs, followed by a parade of 15 speakers from the campaign asking the Board of Supervisors to file suit to compel the DTSC to ensure a “cleanup to background” of the SSFL site to protect the 700,000 people living within 10 miles of the plant from dangerous chemicals and carcinogens.

The protest was in advance of the July 23 closed-session meeting at which supervisors discussed suing DTSC over its Environmental Impact Report that cleanup advocates say is inadequate and will leave 90% of the toxins at the former rocket-testing site, which covers more than 2,800 acres.”
